Lifelong security renewed

Did you get our message about your new policy?

Changes related to insurance policies may raise questions and sometimes cause concern. On this page, we explain what the renewal means, what you may need to do and where you can get help if you have any questions. We have compiled answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you find the information you need as easily as possible. If anything is still unclear, please contact our customer service experts. We’re happy to help.

Why is my casco insurance being cancelled? How will my motor liability insurance be renewed?

We have renewed our motor insurance product, and that’s why you have received a letter informing you about the renewal and about the cancellation of your existing casco insurance policy. The renewal and cancellations will begin with policies whose new period of insurance starts on 1 November 2026. The renewal process will continue on a monthly basis throughout 2027–2028. If you have received the letter and the accompanying documents to your home by post, the motor casco insurance cancellation and renewal also apply to you. In the envelope, you will find instructions for what you should do, so please read the letter and the accompanying documents carefully. Please note that we are not cancelling your motor liability insurance cover – but it, too, will be renewed. If you have motor liability insurance with us, carefully read the information concerning the motor liability insurance product that we are renewing. If you use our paperless service, you have received a smaller number of documents by post. For further information, see the documents found in the Vakuutukset (Policies) section of our online service and the LocalTapiola app. Log in to the online service

What do I need to do?

We have made you an offer on a new voluntary motor insurance policy based on the details of your current casco insurance cover. If the insurance cover continues to meet your needs, you can bring the new policy into force by paying the invoice on the due date or sooner. This will ensure that your insurance cover continues without interruption. Your current, old casco insurance policy will end on the date stated in the letter. If the renewal concerns only your motor liability insurance cover, it will continue automatically without any action required from you. However, please remember to pay the motor liability insurance invoice. If you would like to make changes to your Motor insurance policy or if you have any questions, we are happy to help you. Contact our customer service, and we’ll find the most suitable solution for you together.

Here’s what to do

  • Please see the letter and the accompanying documents that explain the changes.
  • Read your insurance documents carefully.
  • Check that your policy continues to meet your needs.
  • If you would like to make changes to your policy, please contact our customer service.
  • If everything is in order, pay the invoice you have received.

More information about the invoice

You have received your invoice either by post or as an electronic invoice. If you have previously paid your insurance policies through electronic invoicing but cannot find the invoice now, it may exceptionally be in our online service or our app. Log in to the service to see your invoice under Laskut (Invoices). You may also sign up for electronic invoices again under Laskut (Invoices) in the online service or app. An e-invoice proposal may also be waiting for you in your online bank. Once you accept it, you can continue to pay your invoices easily. The new voluntary motor insurance we offer will take effect when you pay your invoice. This will ensure that your insurance cover continues without interruption. For more specific instructions about the invoicing changes, please see the following section below: I have paid my invoice as an electronic invoice, but I cannot find it now. What should I do?

Did you get some other renewal message?

In addition to motor insurance, we have renewed our health, home, pet, forest and boat insurance products. That is why you may also have received mail about the renewal and cancellation of these types of insurance. Please note that health insurance is a package consisting of accident, travel and medical expenses insurance cover. You may also have just one of these three covers. If you have any questions, please contact our specialists in customer service.

Frequently asked questions

When do I need to accept the offer on the new voluntary motor insurance cover?

After the letter arrives, you have about a month to do that. See the letter for the date by which you should accept the offer by paying the insurance invoice. This will ensure that your insurance cover continues without interruption.

What should I do if I do not want to accept the offered new voluntary motor insurance cover?

If you do not want the new voluntary insurance, no action is required from you. Your current casco insurance cover will end on the date stated in the letter. Your motor liability insurance will continue automatically without any action required from you. Please remember to pay its invoice on time. For the amount payable for motor liability insurance, see the invoice you have received.

Has my motor liability insurance changed, and do I need to do something?

Your motor liability insurance cover will continue without any action required from you. The policy number will change, and the annual announcement will tell you about any possible changes made to the policy terms or your insurance premium. However, please remember to pay the motor liability insurance invoice.

Previously, I had motor liability and casco insurance cover – now you’re talking about Motor insurance. What does this mean?

Our new insurance product, Motor insurance, is a package combining motor liability insurance and voluntary motor insurance cover in a single contract. Your Motor insurance options are Premium cover, Limited cover, and separately only Motor liability insurance. Premium and Limited will include motor liability insurance cover if you have previously had both motor liability and casco insurance cover.

I have several insured vehicles. Why did I receive a notice for only one of them, and what will happen to the others?

The covers you have on your vehicles may have different periods of insurance. The renewal will take place on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis at the end of each period of insurance, which is why the vehicles may renew at different times. You may also be faced with the situation that every vehicle has a different period of insurance. This might also apply to a situation where your motor liability and casco insurance covers have had different periods of insurance.

Will the price of my Motor insurance change?

If the renewal concerns your motor liability insurance cover, see the annual announcement for possible changes made to the premium charged for your motor liability insurance. For the price of the voluntary insurance, see the insurance offer that we have sent to your home. You have received the annual announcement and the offer by post. The price may have changed, for example, if your Omaetu loyalty benefits have been changed because of an added or a terminated cover. Your price may also have been affected by a discount that has terminated as normal at the end of the period, or by risen claims expenditure. If you use our paperless service, you will find the offer, the annual announcement and your documents under Vakuutukset (Policies) in our online service and app.

Will the terms and conditions of my Motor insurance change?

The terms and conditions will change, because we are harmonising the terms and conditions of insurance policies granted at different times. Your offer has been made based on the details of your previous policy, and the changes depend on the differences between the old and the new policy. For the terms and conditions and policy premium details of the new Motor insurance product, please see under Vakuutukset (Policies) in our online service and app. You can choose to save the documents on your own device. If you are unable to use the online service, we are here to help you, and can provide the terms and conditions upon request. Log in to the online serviceSee our other contact details

Previously, my casco cover had a bonus, but the new policy does not have one. What does this mean?

Instead of a bonus, the new Premium cover uses a no-claims discount. In practice, it works in the same way: you’ll get a discount when you drive without incident. If your policy covers a collision incident, the no-claims discount will terminate from the start of the next period of insurance. You will get your discount back once you have driven two periods of insurance without incident. We have taken the change into account directly in the price of the insurance offered. Although the no-claims discount, in percentage, is smaller than your previous bonus, the change does not mean that your policy would become more expensive as a result.

Will the change affect my Omaetu tier?

If you do not accept our offer on the new voluntary insurance and your motor liability cover also ends, your benefit tier may be reduced.

Will the new insurance entitle to an Omaetu discount?

Yes. You will get a discount, as determined by your benefit tier, on the insurance premiums of your voluntary insurance cover.

How is vehicle decommissioning taken into account in the premium of the renewed Motor insurance product?

Decommissioning means removing your vehicle from active duty. In a voluntary Motor insurance policy, a part of the premium will be refunded over the period for which your vehicle remains decommissioned, when uninterrupted decommissioning lasts at least 30 days during the period of cover. We will refund a part of the premium for the insurance covers that are not in force during decommissioning. For motor liability insurance cover, the decommissioning refund practise has not changed. In motor liability insurance policies of mopeds, motorcycles and snowmobiles, a part of the premium has been refunded over the period of decommissioning principally when uninterrupted decommissioning has lasted at least 30 days during the period of cover. For other vehicles, including cars, a part of the motor liability insurance premium has been refunded starting right from the day that follows the day of decommissioning. For information about the motor liability insurance premium refund practice that applies to your insurance, please see the motor liability insurance policy document.

I received paper post about the change, even though I use the paperless service. Why?

By law, a notice of cancellation must always be made in writing, which is why we have sent you paper post. You can find your other documents, including the product bulletin, the key information, the product description and the policy wording, in our online service and app. The letter you received by post contains important information about the renewal of your motor liability insurance cover and/or about the new voluntary motor insurance cover that you are being offered, and about the cancellation of your old voluntary motor insurance. You can continue to use the paperless service, and you will receive your other messages digitally just like before.

I have paid my invoice as an electronic invoice, but I cannot find it now. What should I do?

During the renewal project, we have made some changes to the invoicing process, and that is why we have sent you a new e-invoice proposal to your online bank. You may have been notified of this by text message or post. If you cannot see your electronic invoice, log in to your online bank and accept the new e-invoice proposal. In future, the invoicer will be LähiTapiola-ryhmä (LocalTapiola Group). After that, you will get your invoices as electronic invoices just like before. To check your open invoices, you can also log in to our online service or app. To see your invoices, navigate to Laskut (Invoices).

I have paid my insurance as a direct payment, but now I received a paper invoice. Why?

The renewal of our insurance products also has an impact on direct payments. Because of this change, your previous direct payment agreement is not in force any longer, and that is why we have asked you to make a new direct payment in your bank. We have sent you a separate letter by post, containing instructions for you and your bank. Please schedule an appointment with your bank to agree a new direct payment. Once the new direct payment has been agreed, the payment of invoices will continue automatically. If you cannot find the letter, or if you are not sure how to proceed, our customer service is there to help you.

I noticed that my invoice due date is now the 1st day of the month. Why has it changed?

The due date of our renewed insurance products is the first workday of the month. The due date is determined by the date on which your policy commences. In the renewal project, we have made the payment of invoices more flexible. In future, you can choose to pay your policy in 1, 2, 4, 6 or 12 instalments. If you have previously paid your policy in three instalments, we have automatically changed your invoicing to be in four instalments. If you would like to change your payment method or the number of instalments, please contact our customer service. Let’s find the best option for you together.

Where can I see my all invoices and my payment situation?

For your up-to-date invoices and payment details, log in to our online service or the LocalTapiola app. To see your invoices, navigate to Laskut (Invoices). If you do not use our online service, or if you have any trouble finding the information, please contact us. We’re glad to assist you, and we can help you get familiar with the online service or our app and can assist you in other ways.
